On paper, it's the best college hire since Saban to Alabama and Walsh to Stanford before that.

I see two main events as the cause of ND's mediocrity over the last 18 years. The first was deciding to rein in Holtz. The second was when the plane came back from Utah coachless. If Kelly doesn't pan out, then Meyer to OSU may be the third.

Maybe I'm just glum this week after watching a dispirited senior day game, but I don't like this hire from ND's perspective at all.
