I don't have any data to back this up either, but
I have a hunch that if the choice is between a less talented QB with more time in the system before starting versus a more talented one with less time, Weis is better off with the former. There's obviously the need to have a QB that can make some challenging, targeted throws within Weis's offense, but the whole damn thing grinds to a halt if Weis doesn't have a QB that's flexible and experienced enough to take advantage of all the wrinkles in his playbook.
