I think it's probably a combo of 2 things

1. the best and most likely jobs in alignments with Marcus were the Pittsburgh and Baltimore jobs. There was enough noise and we were late enough in the offseason that he had to (possibly) prematurely shut down all of the interest if only to create some stability around ND.

2. I think he understands his highest and best use as a coach and developer. Yeah, you have to deal with all the uncertainty of conference alignment, NIL, the portal, etc. But he is given some latitude and control to go out and get the best guys to navigate these issues. He knows he makes a difference in these kids' lives and it feels like that matters to him. Not sure he would have that impact on NFL guys.
