I LOVE LA. I was happy to find they fly they American flag too. Sarcastic but youd be amazed how many people around here are surprised that Californians are just people making their way. And everyone wss so kind.
Joe1 - I chose Xuntos and it was so good I went twice. Any of you ever there ask for Nono and tell her I sent you. If you go soon tell her Doug, the blonde haired old dude from Savannah sent ya. She was awesome.
Also Chez Jay is definitely my style of place. Feels like pinkies in Savannah that happens to serve steaks. I just went for a couple of beers but if I lived in SM they would know me well. I think the bar tenders name was Jeffrey.
Other places things iI did.
Paul Simon at the Hollywood Bowl. I was not excited to see an 82 year old but his songs work with tan old guys voice. And I happened to like his one song thirty minute performance album. Brikel was there too. I missed the Greek theater.
We wnt fishing though not very effectivley. Tough from the shore. The fish must be near the rocks but hard to get the bait there.
Surf was way up. If I figure out pictures on here I will.
- Griffith was so nice to check out.
Santa Anita Track was cool on the final weekend. Santa Anita Golf Course very nice.
Blue Iguana in Ojai cool for a relaxed couple of days.
The Tower Hotel was awesome but expensive. My date and I that night dis Musso's then the Tower Bar then explored the hotel including sneaking onto the roof. Quite an adventure.
Saw the Dodgers win on Friday. Walk off hit. Mookie Bobble heed and Mookie went 3-5 with a HR.
Angels Park was very good too bad they suck - but they won!
Other restaurants/bars (I always sit at the bar whether by myself or with a date)
- smoke House - Great bar.
- The butcher the bake the cappuccino maker A little more performative than I like but fun sunday brunch.
- Cantors deli. Whole hearted yes. I went on a walk one after noon and stopped in. Ended up speaking to an older lady waiter from Boston who had worked there 20+ years. Said she can't stand her husband. I said come with me. She said I would but I'd have to pay the son of a bitch alimony. bout 3 hours of that. Matza ball soup and drunk on beer. Met the owner too. Ask about the porcelin tiger.
- Nobu - good but holy crips expensive. My cousin and I took the family.
- Mastros in Malibu - I think this is a chain but it felt very homey. Families and friends . Right on the water.
- Phillipes!
- A number of restaurants in pasadena.
