Entitled “For everything else, there was bowling” is almost a standalone piece and it is one of the most well acted, apt, and poignant descriptions of a father’s funeral that you’ll ever see. No matter how you feel about the show, it’s a marvelous episode.

WIDOW'S BAY featuring Matthew Rhys (who is excellent in almost anything) was a phenomenal first season about a haunted island off the coast of Boston. Turns horror tropes upon themselves, and has some great dark comedy. My favorite new show of the last year.

I'm halfway through MAXIMUM PLEASURE GUARANTEED, a show about a single mom who is scammed by an internet sex worker and then unwittingly finds herself intertwined in a series of deaths and misfortunes. Not going to win any Emmys but I've found every episode to be a really fun ride.

Lastly CAPE FEAR, a series adaptation of two movies of the same name - this one falls more into the "trashy but fun" category. Two episodes still to air. Lots of star power (Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson). The characters make impossibly dumb decisions, yet I cannot look away! Bardem nails the charming-but-sinister Max Cady.

I think I made it about four episodes in. I assume it eventually gets better, but just couldn't take it anymore. Too much of everything - too much rain, too many setbacks (to the point of perversity), too many annoying acting tics, too much Faks. The happy resolution to come just felt unrealistic and unearned. Great show overall, though. I think three seasons probably would have been the sweet spot.

Got through about six episodes on a recent flight, going to finish up soon. Really great sci-fi, morbidly funny, and totally thought-provoking on issues of morals and ethics.
