I haven’t read it, but I’ve long distrusted tech companies

The move fast and break things crowd shows a general callousness and arrogance that they justify by citing their “changing the world” but mostly the kind of temperament it takes to be a “disrupter” seems to make for people who are very poor stewards of society, made worse by the echo chambers they find themselves in.

From Uber and Travis K to “Zuck” to Elon to Bezos… to a man they’re almost all terrible assholes with very little concern for the damage they cause. As such, I choose to give them as little power over my life and my family as I can muster.

My friends make fun of me for not letting my kids be on social media, for getting shit from their grandmother for keeping her from posting pics of the kids on Facebook, for denying our kids phones, for keeping tablets and phones away from my kids when they were babies… Hell I had to leave NDNation for getting pilloried for saying little kids shouldn’t have tablets. But it’s served me well… at least I won’t have to look back with any regret, because none of this really makes life any more enjoyable or fulfilling… at best it maybe just numbs your pain for a bit.

Edit: Adam Neumann and WeWork, Peter Thiel, Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, awful Sheryl Sandberg, Sam Altman - why do we trust these awful people with anything?
