ND Tickets
by Grantland, y'allywood, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 13:03 (5 days ago)
For the First time in 20+ years I could not get the tickets I wanted in the Lottery. Miami was sold out when it came to me. Two observations/bitches/questions:
1. Is this the result of a shit schedule?
2. Kinda bullshit I have been getting tickets for twenty years in a row and can't get even 2 for Miami.
I guess that sounds entitled and it prolly is. O well, first world problems.
1. Yes 2. Most anticipation for NDFB in 20 years

And yet currently only 3rd highest 2026 game on SeatGeek

After Wisconsin and BYU. Dang.
Wisconsin tickets are going for roughly 4x face.

I mean, I'm too old to get angry, but shouldn't the guy
by Grantland, y'allywood, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 14:00 (5 days ago) @ KGB
who has bought tickets throughout the shit years, get dibs in the big game?
O well. I probably will not go up there this year which makes me a little sad.
Again, first world problems.
I do question the allocation strategy a little bit

The ticket allocations at the top end are pretty generous... but that has the effect of the well running dry by the time you get to more reasonable donation levels. Personally I think they've overbalanced a bit.
On the other hand... I also wonder how much of that is a deliberate strategy to minimize the chances of another Sea of Red game. Presumably the bigger donors are not likely to turn around and scalp their tickets.
Agree with both of those points.

It's unfortunate for those in Grantland's shoes, but there are always other outlets if you really want to go.
Agree. And part of the reason I can't be too frustrated or
by Grantland, y'allywood, Thursday, May 21, 2026, 09:54 (4 days ago) @ KGB
upset is that football tickets are not the primary reason I give. I give through the Rockne Fund (or whatever it is called) to benefit the golf team.
I do not give a shit ton but I suspect it is around the median or a little higher but, of course, significantly lower than the mean.
I have a friend who's a letterman
by IrishGuard, Thursday, May 21, 2026, 09:57 (4 days ago) @ Grantland
who claims when he graduated he was guaranteed two tickets to any game--as long as he paid for them and his Monogram Club membership dues--for the rest of his life. Is that right? Were letterwinners promised that in the past? Because it's no longer true, if so.
That is the way I heard it; but it quickly became untrue.

Funny/not so funny story on that.
Dad and I were going to take a trip up to see a Michigan game. (Dad's dad and son went to ND but Dad went to Loyola NO).
I did not get the tickets.
Dad asked if he could write a letter; I did not care I wasn't paying attention.
Not a real ugly letter but it was frustrated.
Anyway, it was to the ticket manager at the time, Bubba Cunningham. Bubba drove the golf team to a few matches. We were friends.
Bubba told my best friend on the golf team, "why didn't Doug call for tickets. He knows I would have gotten him some." Well, because the Doug who wrote the letter ain't the Doug who knew you.
I talked to him and apologized but bridge burnt - negligently but accidently. Know the room my friends, know the room. Also, Notre Dame community is very very small.
EDIT: Anger/frustration never works for me.
EDIT: Another edit. It's weird also because sometimes I can get as many as 8 tickets. IIRC I got 4 tickets to every playoff game but the Sugar Bowl. I would have thought the IU ND game would have been a higher demand than this year's Miami. That was a top five all time game for me.
The secondary market has been reasonably liquid

And it is telling us that the big games are probably underpriced a bit while the not-so-big games are if anything overpriced.
Which brings up some different questions at the CFB level. That's another thread though.
That’s not how it works. Money talks for the CSC!
