I think any time you make things more clear for the DC you're raising the bar you need to hit. If I were defending ND I'd feel confident putting my chips on the following premises:

- the RBs are under-repetitioned and likely are nice pieces rather than gamechangers

- the QB is really good but also a gunslinger, even/especially in the red zone

- ND has been suspect in short yardage in recent years outside of the QB run game

- ND suffers a big drop off from the starting QB to the #2

The prescription becomes pretty clear - keep your safeties back, try to bait Carr into putting the ball and jeopardy, and go ham on your packages for the red zone and/or getting penetration on short yardage plays


I'm not saying all this will work, necessarily, but it makes me nervous when the opposition can have clarity in what they need to work on to slow us down
