Remember how high we rank on those lists? Well, this should cheer you up a little.

Here's a breakdown of the Rivals Top 60 and Top 100 from 2005:

7 - 1st round
4 - 2nd round
6 - 3rd round
2 - 4th round
1 - 5th round
2 - 6th round
1 - 7th round

TOP 100

30 - still playing
32 - drafted
8 - 1st round
7 - 2nd round
7 - 3rd round
4 - 4th round
2 - 5th round
3 - 6th round
1 - 7th round

And here are the initial numbers for the Class of 2006:

TOP 60

7 - Declared for the Draft
6 - drafted
4 - 1st round
1 - 2nd round
1 - 4th round

TOP 100

Am I reading this correctly?

Of the Top 60:
- 20 are no longer in football (graduated, dropped out, injured, etc.)
- 23 were drafted by the NFL
- 17 are still playing in college

Of the Top 100:
- 38 are no longer in football (graduated, dropped out, injured, etc.)
- 32 were drafted by the NFL
- 30 are still playing in college

The reason I ask is that I find it interesting that this would mean a third of the Top-60/100 players coming out of high school aren't playing football four years later.

That's correct.

Although it doesn't necessarily mean they're out of football. Guys like Alex Boone, etc, will likely be signing free agent contracts.

It also means that roughly 1 in 3 of the Top 60 were drafted in the first three rounds. I don't think it's a stretch to believe that players such as Jerrell Powe, Rico Mccoy, Averell Spicer, Will Harris, Chris Scott, Ndamukong Suh, have that potential.
