ND 2005 - Alabama 2008 - ND 2009

The last two days are hammering home yet another interesting comparison between these teams.

The 2005 NFL Draft was the last time an ND player wasn't drafted in the first two round. Tuck went in the third round and then Collins was drafted on the second day. Overall, a very poor draft for the Irsh.

The 2008 NFL Draft was one of the only times that Alabama has ever had zero players drafted. Overall, a very poor draft for the Crimson Tide.

The 2009 NFL Draft has yet to see a Notre Dame player drafted. Bruton will very likely be the only Irish player selected. Overall, a very poor draft for the Irish.

I've posted the similarities in terms of returning starters, overall records, etc.

For example, each team returned/will be returning a third year starter at QB.

Each team finished the prior season with at least six losses, including some that defied explanation (BC, LA-Monroe, Syracuse).

In terms of actual talent and production, we really lost very little from last year to this year. The added year of experience alone should bump us to 9 wins. But, we will have to wait until the fall to see what actually unfolds.
