Charlie and the alumni clubs
It's a catch-22 for him.
On one hand, he feels the need (or was ordered) to rehabilitate his public persona, and that entails reaching out to local clubs and doing meet and greets, giving talks, etc.
On the other hand, he has to know that everyone at these things is going to run to the internet immediately afterwards and post their "interpretations" of what he said, whether he was gruff or cordial, how many servings of lasagna did he have, etc.
I don't envy him.
