Weis and ESPN
from Rothstein:
Weis And ESPN Are OK Again
Michael Rothstein
The Journal Gazette
In case you haven't noticed, there's been a lot more Charlie Weis on ESPN lately -- be it on the dot.com or the network. There was a Sunday Conversation interview with Weis conducted by George Smith. Then there was the all-access pass given to ESPN reporter Ivan Maisel by Weis for a couple days last week. It resulted in this story and, well, some questions considering Weis and the network hadn't exactly been best buds.
It had been an ongoing feud of sorts, partially stemming from Dana Jacobson's now-infamous "F-Touchdown Jesus, F-Notre Dame" rant at a Mike & Mike roast along with other things Weis declined to discuss publicly. Now, though, it seems like ice has thawed.
"Everyone kind of knows my personal feelings that I had toward that organization and I think we kind of cleared the air with that organization, without going into details, we kind of cleared the air some to kind of move forward," Weis said. "They came in and wanted to clear the air and that was kind of the end of that process of clearing the air."

I know some fans probably think, "who cares about smoothing things over with ESPN?" I think ESPN wields enormous influence that manifests itself in everything from Heisman races to BCS rankings to professional reputations. I think it's probably better to have a working relationship with them than to be constantly at odds.
