Watching the Oregon State game..
It looked like the Trojan defense was confused all game long. The blocking schemes run by the Beavers were ingenious, using WRs coming off of motions to block LBs just long enough for a quick RB to find some space and get through. None of the blocking was based on overpowering the guy, just stopping him barely long enough for the play to work. Because of this, USC was on their heels the entire first half and a good bit of the 2nd.
There's no way that most other teams could do that to USC; OSU completely sold out on playing one specific style of offense. Their QB made just enough clutch plays when they needed it, and the defense played well right when they needed to. Jacquizz Rodgers also set the entire team up for success by playing so well in space and finding the necessary holes. It was a gutsy plan, but I think that coach had set up his offense from the beginning of the year with his entire goal being to beat SC. It worked out for him, too.
