Do they even know how much it would cost to clean up

any given potential stadium site? That area must be one of the most polluted in the entire country.

We ate at the Hammond Wendy’s today

On the way back to SB from the Burbs.

Tobacco Land is going to do a killing selling Ditka Cigars. Johnny’s Tap looked ready. A resident was wearing a brand new Bears hat.

I like the vibe

Hammond has stops for both Metra and SSL.

I grew up going to the Meadowlands and I have always found this idea to make sense. I have plenty of questions about Chicago’s future but this is pretty low on that list tbh.

Besides. I don’t think anyone would Amtrak…

… to a Bears game from Chicago(land). Probably cost $120 round trip.

Maybe the South Shore?

The Amtrak station is in Homewood, IL.

Right at the 80/94 junction, about five miles of gnarly traffic west of the border.

I don't think that legislation passed, did it?

Were I the Bears, I'd make the move. It's not like the Giants don't sell out the Meadowlands, and I don't see Johnson as having any sway over the issue. If the Bears can't make Arlington Heights work then might as well take the Indiana deal. Certainly a more motivated legislature.

I'd be holding out for a better site than Wolf Lake though. Looking at the map, I'd want some kind of environmental cleanup deal to set up shop on the lakefront, which is going to make the entertainment district a lot more valuable in the long run for summer concerts et al... Looks like there's an Amtrak stop right there as well.

I don't buy it

They just got legislation that will let them play Brandon Johnson and Arlington Heights against each other directly, and Johnson is a stooge who is going to stake his re-election pitch on keeping the Bears.

Putting out a statement with any punch pulling at all is basically like putting out a statement saying "Hammond is NOT selected"

And this is coming from someone who strongly favors Hammond as the stadium site

Bear down...I-94. Amirite?
